Recently, an article, “The Future of Our Communities Lies in our Mothers’ Hands”, mentioned that “the number of women raising children by themselves in U.S.A. has nearly tripled in the last 45 years, reaching a current estimate of 10 million single mothers in this country”.
The U.S. Census Bureau reports 1 in 4 families with children under age of 18 are headed by a single parent and more than 3 out of 4 single parent families are headed by a female.
In a recent post, Latinas Taking Charge among the Fastest Growing Home Buying Demographic, we revealed 91% of the Latinas surveyed think buying a home is the best financial investment they can make and 61% of the Latinas believe they will play a larger role than their partner in their next home purchase.
The article also mentioned that The National Association of Women in Real Estate Businesses is launching a Women’s Homeownership Initiative (WHI) in 20016 and their goal is to “help women create a better future for their families which ultimately leads to stronger neighborhoods and communities”.
